Registration Rules
In order to show in the RRA, owners MUST be registered.
If an owner's barn status or name changes, the owner must notify the RRA immediately.
Show Rules
- A horse may only show in two riding classes per show, and an unlimited number of halter classes.
- Open Classes - Open to any horse and any rider.
- Novice Horse Classes - Open to any horse who has not won over $5,000 in reining events.
- Junior Horse Classes - Open to any horse between 4-7 years of age.
- Senior Horse Classes - Open to any horse 8 years and older.
- Futurity Classes - Open to any horse 3 years of age. Horses to be shown in a smooth snaffle bit with a broken mouthpiece, with a ring no larger than 4" and no smaller than 2". A bosal may be used in lieu of a snaffle bit or hackamore. Horses may be ridden with two hands in Futurity Classes.
- Horses shown in the Futurity Class, may not be shown in any other Under Saddle Class.
- Freestyle Classes - During Freestyle Reining, you are allowed a time limit of four minutes.
The following maneuvers are required:
- a minimum of 4 consecutive spins to the right, 4 consecutive spins to the left
- a minimum of 3 stops
- a minimum of 1 lead change at the canter from right to left; 1 from left to right
- A horse may only entered once per class, and a rider may not show more than three horses per class. Virtual riders are allowed.
- Western tack and attire are mandatory. This includes a long sleeved shirt, western hat, boots, western saddle and bridle. Failure to do so will result in a score of 0.
